Only 6 hours in Hawaii wasn’t fair! It was so unbelievably beautiful and I can’t believe we can’t stay longer…I was on a field program today that explored the hidden gems of Oahu. We first hopped on a bus from the terminal and right off of the bat,
we felt the Hawaiian vibes. The bus had Hawaiian seat covers and the Hawaiian tunes played on the radio. We went and hiked through the mud to Likeke Falls in Ko’olau and after we went to the Nuuana Pali Lookout over the city of Honolulu. Even though we only had a few hours in Hawaii, it felt as if we had forever sitting and watching the clouds fly past the mountains.

After, we drove to Waikiki beach where we were given box lunches while we sat next to the ocean and took in the sun’s rays. I was with Victoria, Callie, and Kate today and we spent the majority of the field program together. We had about two and a half hours of free time at the beach. It’s been a tough week for school and finals. Wink wink. After about an hour and a half of playing on the beach and in the water, we walked around town for a bit. Victoria wanted to find a Poke bowl and macadamia nut cookies. We found both and she was extremely satisfied.
Hawaii was an incredible way to end what has been one of the best experiences I have ever had. Thank you to all of those who supported me throughout this voyage. I truly can’t express how grateful I am to have had this opportunity to go on this voyage of a life time. I’m ready to come home, be with family, and celebrate the holidays. One week from today, I will be arriving in San Diego to disembark. It will be a joyous and deeply saddening moment to leave, but I will be forever thankful for what Semester at Sea has provided me over the course of these past three and a half months. This voyage may be ending in a week, but I feel another journey right around the corner, not far away.
